Millerton almanac: start of winter

Very cold at Millerton this past weekend. Mercury barely got above freezing all day, and -10C with the windchill, but OK outdoors if you bundle up. Not much snow in these parts yet, unlike Buffalo and around the Great Lakes, but we did have the first snow flurries Sunday morning, only light and barely visible on the deck. Lucky we rented a car (a Buick Lesabre with heated leather seats!) and didn't cycle as it is pretty bleak along the Rail Trail these days. There were some very curiously shaped ice formations including this dolphin/eagle. And happy Hannukah to those who celebrate that tradition
